Bill Waller is a med tech CEO, entrepreneur, active angel group leader, who is invested in nine, mostly med tech, startup companies, and an expert life sciences attorney. Bill is currently the CEO of Monitor Mask, Inc., a Seattle startup selling FDA-cleared medical devices for measuring CO2 when providing anesthesia. Bill is the Vice Chair and Chair Elect of WINGS, The Medical Technology AngelsTM of Washington. Previously Bill served on the WINGS’ Investor Committee, and led WINGS’ AdvaMed/ Med Tech Innovator Scholarship Program. Bill is a paid Business Advisor for Arthur Health’s Pillsy product division, which is developing technology to measure and remind you on your cell if you fail to take your medication. Bill is also an active, paid member of the Advisory Board of Precision Image Analysis, a Seattle area startup bringing machine learning to cardiac scans and a consultant or outside counsel to other startup life science companies. Bill is a mentor to his alma mater Colgate University student investor program and a Founder of the Colgate alumni angel group, Torchlight Angels.
Bill previously served as Varian Medical System’s Lead Counsel for the Seattle site and Head of Global Regulatory Law. Prior to Varian, Bill was VP of Ethics and Compliance and Chief Privacy Officer for Seattle-based biotech Dendreon, and prior to that, VP of Ethics and Compliance for the device division of Novartis.
Earlier in his career, Bill served in senior health care roles in the federal government and with leading FDA law firms, including Covington & Venable, where he advised about advertising, compliance, approvals and regulatory matters. His government service included serving as Majority Counsel for the US House of Representatives Oversight Subcommittee with jurisdiction over FDA, which led efforts in the first successful use of the Congressional Review Act repealing federal regulations. He received a JD with honors from Harvard Law School, and a BA with highest honors from Colgate University. He is an Eagle Scout and former ethics instructor with the Boy Scouts of America. Bill lives in the Seattle area with his wife and, during college breaks, his two children.
